Jetter opens up its automation systems via EtherCat
The German automation specialist Jetter will be launching new ranges of motion controllers, servo amplifiers, multitouch control panels and industrial PCs at the SPS/IPC/Drives show in November. The company, which is in the process of being bought by the Swiss Bucher Industries group, will be opening up its systems more than before and supporting EtherCat for the first time.
The new JetControl 480MC motion controller is the first Jetter controller to use EtherCat as the system bus. It also has a CANopen interface, allowing it to be connected to modules from other manufacturers.
“We have integrated various bus systems into the new control unit,” explains product manager Jens Peter Tomaschko. “We have therefore opened up the system all round – a novelty for Jetter.”
Ethernet/IP and Profinet modules will allow the controller to connect with Rockwell and Siemens products, while a JX3 system bus interface allows it to connect to existing JX3 peripheral modules.
The new motion controller completes Jetter's JetControl family of industrial controllers, closing the power range gap between the existing JC-360MC and JC-940MC models. It will be available from the first quarter of 2014.
SPS will also mark the debut of a new generation of JetMove servo amplifiers from Jetter. The JM-1000 is a single-axis system, while the JM-3000 handles multiple axis modules. It can be used to create compact, high-performance, coordinated multi-axis motion systems. The use of EtherCat will allow high-performance synchronous control of all axes via a master interface. The new servo amplifiers can handle high overloads, allowing highly dynamic acceleration procedures.
The JM-3000 captures regenerative energy via its DC link circuit, to cut running costs. An optional Hiperface DSL interface can be used to simplify wiring. The compact amplifiers can be integrated into machines, thus cutting assembly and installation costs.
Finally, Jetter AG will also present new widescreen multitouch control panels at SPS. The JetView panels are available in sizes from 5–22" and, for the first time, will have a real glass multitouch surface. Thanks to the use of ARM processors, power consumption is said to be much lower than conventional models.
