Rescued power transmission firm moves to new site

JPT Mechanical Drives – the company formed after HMK Automation rescued Jackson Power Transmission from administration last year – has moved from Stoke-on-Trent to new 465m2 premises in Congleton.

Since being acquired nine months ago, the business has focused on re-establishing customer and supplier relationships. HMK has invested in the business, culminating in the purchase of the new premises to help JPT to achieve its commercial and technical objectives.

“We have seen some dramatic changes since I took over the business,” says general manager, Simon Plimbley. “We have managed to maintain our turnover and profitability during these changes and recent additions of engineering and sales professionals, together with the new facility, is just the springboard we need”.

JPT is planning to expand its operations further and to recruit more personnel. This will allow it to expand outside its original Midlands market and to target the whole of the UK.

JPT supplies complete drivetrains using products from Siemens, Radicon, Renold, Teco and Challenge. It offers next-day delivery of power transmission systems up to 315kW. HMK has invested in spray booth and machining technologies to repair gearboxes and install equipment on customer sites 24 hours a day.
