Linear actuator design prevents rotation

11 June, 2013

Parker Hannifin has developed a new generation of compact linear actuators with an innovative design using four guide rods to prevent rotation and allow large lateral forces to be applied. The Origa ORD-E actuators can deliver stroke lengths up to 500mm and forces up to 2kN.

Initially, the actuators will be available in a 50mm version, with 80, 100 and 160mm models due to follow shortly. They are IP65-protected and have an operating temperature range from –20 to +80°C. In some applications, they can be used as an alternative to hydraulic cylinders.

Options include a trapezoidal self-locking screw to hold position, as well as stepper/servo motors, gears, clutches, controllers, central lubrication and power supplies. External sensors can be fitted for accurate position detection.
