Silicon suppressors sit on a DIN rail

After 14 months of development, Transtector Systems - part of Smiths Interconnect - has launched a range of silicon-based, DIN-rail-mounting surge protection devices that can handle surges of up to 10kA. The company says that the I²R Series suppressors, which are designed to work on 120V or 240V AC main and branch service panels, offer "the highest silicon suppression capability in a DIN-rail package".

The individually fused, plug-in suppressor modules incorporate power and suppression status indicators and can be serviced or upgraded without having to change the wiring. They are available in single, split, wye and delta phase configurations, and are interchangeable, eliminating the need to stock phase-specific spares. As an alternative to rail mounting, the modules can be bolted to a backplane or housed in an enclosure.
