Cammell Laird buys M&R to enter hydraulics market

 

Cammell Laird, the ship conversion and repair specialist, has expanded into the hydraulic equipment market by buying M&R Hydraulics for £750,000. Merseyside-based M&R specialises in hydraulic systems for the marine industry.

Andy Boardman, Cammell Laird`s group commercial director, says that the acquisition "provides exciting potential for expansion into a new market area, as well as providing our customers with an extended range of services".

He adds that Cammell Laird`s strategy of broadening its services will underpin its future expansion.

M&R`s pre-tax profits in 1988 were £150,000 and its has net assets worth £200,000.
