D&C Show visitor numbers soar by 20%

Preliminary attendance figures for last month`s Drives & Controls exhibition at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre reveal that it attracted at least 20% more visitors than last year`s show in London. The final tally for the three days of the show was just short of 5,000 visitors.

Most exhibitors appear to be pleased with the response from the show, with several planning to have larger stands at next year`s event.

For example, Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for the Brazilian motor, drives and controls manufacturer WEG, which had the only two-tier stand at this year`s show, is not ruling out going for three tiers in 2003. "I imagine most people [exhibitors] will now go two-tier next year because of what we did. So we might just go one better!"

He reports that WEG saw "some potentially very good customers" during the show.

Moeller Electric, making its first ever appearance at the exhibition, was also pleased. Paul Bennett, the company`s automation product manager, says the show "was very good" for Moeller and generated a lot of enquiries for potential new business.

The 2003 show will take place from 3-5 June in the NEC`s Hall 9.
