New network will serve scattered motor users

The 14 member companies in ABB`s Motor Service Partners alliance have formed a new company, MSP Network, to deliver a nationwide motor service to customers with several sites. Previously, the members have operated independently; now, customers with many sites will have a single point of contact at the Liverpool offices of Central Electrical.

Through the new company, alliance members will deliver a range of services related to low-voltage motors, including sales, engineering, overhauls, repairs and stock management. Although the services will be provided by different member companies for different sites, customers will be issued with a single invoice.

As well as reducing the number of suppliers a user has to deal with, the new arrangement could also result in bigger discounts because contracts will be negotiated for higher volumes.

Central Electrical`s sales director Shaun Sutton says that the new scheme will "greatly simplify" the transactions for nationwide customers, yet still provide them with "the service and commitment customers expect from an owner-managed business".
