£40m logistics hub leads to UK move for Lenze
Published:  05 September, 2010

Lenze is moving its UK headquarters following the inauguration of a £40m logistics centre in northern France which will hold parts for the UK, France, the Netherlands and Spain. As a result, less warehouse space is needed in the UK and the company is downsizing and will be moving shortly to the new site near its existing HQ in Bedford. By the time of the move, the company’s UK headcount will have been reduced over the past year from around 100 to about 70.

The new logistics hub, located near Lille, will increase the availability of complex parts and give customers reliability of supply. It includes facilities (shown above) to build Lenze geared motors from stock parts, including customer-specified options such as brakes, encoders, blowers and paint finishes. Similarly, it will be able to assemble ready-to-run drives with options such as communication or safety modules.

In Bedford, Lenze’s customer service operation is being strengthened with an emergency stock of critical products and spare parts, instead of the previous warehouse of general stocks. Customer support is being realigned with internal technical customer service, field sales and back-up from teams of application engineers and product managers. The new premises (shown above) are about 5km from Lenze`s existing Bedford site.
