May News in Brief

01 May, 2010

♦  Schneider Electric has doubled the size of its motion and drives sales team in the UK to support its continued growth in this area. It says it has had an “exceptional” year, despite the downturn. It expects sales to be boosted further by the Altivar 32 drive that it is launching at the Drives & Controls Show in June.

♦  Machinebuilding.net has published the fourth edition of its free Guide to the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The new edition is the first since the new Directive came into force last December, and has been updated with the latest guidance and sources of further information. It also highlights changes from the old Directive. Copies are available via www.machinebuilding.net

♦  Visitors to Leuze electronic’s stand at the Drives & Controls Show in June will have a chance of winning a one-day machine safety inspection, worth £750. One winner will be picked each day for the prize which will involve a visit by an inspector who will check whether their machinery complies with safety and quality standards.
