New team takes control at Taylor & Goodman

The Reading-based Taylor & Goodman group has new owners. John Gipton, the group`s retiring managing director, and major shareholder Jeff Gowers, have sold their shares in the company to Peter Ryder and Maurice Haynes.

Ryder and Haynes were members of the original management team who sold the Lewis Group for £6m in 1996, doubling business during their four years in charge.

Taylor & Goodman distributes, installs and repairs motors, controlgear, gearboxes and pumping equipment. It employs 110 people in a chain of branches, and has a turnover of £6m. Ryder, who is the company`s new managing director, hopes to double the size of the business within five years.
