VEM moves and takes on cast-iron sales

VEM Motors UK has expanded its operation to take on sales of its German parent`s cast-iron motors in the UK. The VEM operation has moved from its previous site at Stirchley, near Birmingham, to premises in Redditch shared with its business partner, Electrotorc, which will provide warehousing, workshop and despatch facilities.

VEM, whose managing director is Ralph Crocker, intends to focus on selling high-quality and special motors, rather than competing at the low-cost end of the market. It plans to hold a "substantial" stock of cast-iron motors in Redditch, but sees its strength as being able to deliver non-standard and special motors made in Germany in 4-8 weeks.

The Redditch operation will be able to carry out small batch modifications to motors.
