♦  The CC-Link Partner Association has announced that its open fieldbus system now has more than 6.5 million nodes installed worldwide, while a new study from IMS Research has found that CC-Link is the dominant open network in Asia. Hundreds of automation suppliers have already certified more than 1,000 products for CC-Link compatibility.

♦  The US-based Power Efficiency Corporation has extended its range of three-phase motor efficiency controllers to cater for AC induction motors up to 300hp (224kW). The controllers are claimed to offer energy savings of up to 35% for fixed-speed, variable-load applications. The controllers now also offer the options of Ethernet ports, and IP00 or IP65 protection.

♦  The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has launched what it claims is the most extensive online library of engineering information in the world. The searchable ICE Virtual Library hosts the Institution’s journal and book content back to 1836.

♦  Profibus and Profinet International (PI) is supporting the activities of Prolist International to standardise features for data exchange between manufacturers of process control devices and device users in feature lists. The collaboration will result in a standardised mapping of Profibus interface properties into Prolist feature lists.
