º  Artisan Software Tools, the world’s largest independent developer of industrial collaborative modelling tools for embedded systems and software, has acquired Southampton-based High Integrity Solutions and its Vds (V-Design System) integrated collaborative engineering framework.

º  Lektronix Automation and Control has set up a facility in Bridgend, South Wales, dedicated to repairing industrial robots. The company can repair robots made by ABB, Kuka, Staubli, Franc and Motoman, and test them on special rigs as if they were in a production environment.

º  Optibelt UK has installed equipment at its Warrington site for joining polyurethane timing belts. This will allow belts of any length to made endless on site, with minimal lead times.

º  Renold has returned its sprocket and wheel manufacturing activities to its Cardiff factory after an absence of 25 years. The site, now occupied by Renold Clutches and Couplings, was opened in 1946 as a sprocket manufacturing plant although these activities were later moved to other plants. The Cardiff site will build wheels and sprockets up to 1.3m in diameter.

º  Schaeffler (UK) has inaugurated a service at its manufacturing plant in Llanelli, South Wales, that will offer 24-hour deliveries on linear systems, rails, shafts, cages and carriages, and two working day deliveries on machine shafts up to 5m long. The operation is called the Linear Quick-Centre.

º  The vibration and displacement sensor manufacturer Monitran has set up a dedicated research and development arm called Monitran Technology to work on products that exploit new materials and technologies.

º  The Richard Alan Group has launched a new business, Pumps & Gearboxes, to increase the availability of pumps and gearboxes to OEMs and to offer maintenance services.
