AEG drops Lafert name in the UK

AEG Lafert Electric Motors has dropped the name of its Italian parent, the Lafert Group, from its title and will now trade in the UK simply as AEG Electric Motors. Part of the reason for this move is to distinguish the UK business - set up on 2000 - from the Lafert group`s other operations.

"The initial use of the Lafert name was key to underlining the UK operation`s credibility," explains Nigel Evenett, AEG Electric Motors` managing director. "Now, with four years of successful trading, it is possible - and, I believe, beneficial - to clarify our identity in relation to our business as a serious electric motor manufacturer."

The UK operation has trebled its turnover since its first year of operation and now accounts for 6% of the Lafert Group`s European turnover.
