• Westermo Data Communications has moved into larger, purpose-built premises in Hedge End, Southampton, giving the company extra space for its growing technical support team, as well as larger training facilities. Westermo will be expanding its programme of in-house training courses.

• Dr Sab Safi, who was previously technical and development manager for Tyco Electronics` Crompton Small Motors business, has set up a consultancy specialising in designing motors, gearboxes and drives. He can be contacted on 02380 293 208 or via drsafi_dt@btinternet.com

• Rockwell Automation has set up a servo motor, gearbox and cable assembly facility at its Motion Control Centre of Excellence in Crewe. The facility, targeting both OEMs and end users, will guarantee that the combinations work.

• Danfoss Drives is creating an extended, dedicated Motion Controls division, based in Denham, North London, to serve both the Irish and UK markets. The main focus of the division will be on customer applications for VLT drives. Danfoss Ireland, in Dublin, will continue to support other Danfoss products.

• Intech Automation, formed 15 years ago by Stuart Williams and Ian Pygott to design and manufacture control systems, has become a limited company and appointed Derrick Hodgson, previously with Routeco, as sales director with the aim of expanding the business. The Halifax-based company specialises in Allen-Bradley systems but also supports equipment from other suppliers.
