SKF goes ballscrew shopping in the US

01 February, 2003

Bearings giant SKF has bought Twentieth Century Machine (TCM), a US-based manufacturer of ground ballscrews. The company, which has 70 employees working in the Detroit area of Michigan, notched up sales worth around £4.7m last year. It will enable SKF to offer its North American customers complete, locally made ground ballscrew packages.

TCM mainly serves the US and Canadian machine tool markets and offers ballscrew repairs both for its own and for other manufacturers` products.

SKF also owns two ballscrew manufacturing plants in France and one in Italy.
