New air show will be a blast

The UK`s compressed air and pneumatics industries are to get their own exhibition for the first time with a new show called AirTech that will have its debut at the NEC, Birmingham, next May. The exhibition will run alongside other major engineering events, including the Drives & Controls Show, MACH, Electrex, NEEDS, Subcon and Weldex, to create an engineering mega-event.

AirTech will focus on the latest advances in compressed air power and pneumatics technology, and will cover technologies such as compressors, valves, cylinders, pipework and controls.

AirTech`s organiser, Ryan Fuller of DFA Media, says that exhibitors and visitors will benefit from the co-location with the other engineering shows. "For instance, buyers of electromechanical motion solutions in MACH might be interested in looking at pneumatic solutions in AirTech - and vice versa."

DFA Media is already closely involved with the fluid power industry as the publisher of Hydraulics & Pneumatics magazine. It also publishes Drives & Controls and organises the Drives & Controls Show.

Fuller says that the launch of AirTech is the direct result of feedback from the fluid power industry and from readers. In particular, "the co-location with the other exhibitions is a result of asking the industry what they want". He points out that visitors to the Drives & Controls Show and to the other events at the NEC will now be able to investigate complementary technologies at AirTech.

AirTech will take place at the NEC from 16-18 May, 2006.
